All books in sixteenth century Antwerp had to be approved by a censor appointed by the Catholic Church. This book was approved by Henricus Zebertus, a theological scholar at the Cathedral Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Antwerp. His statement that he found nothing objectionable in the text would have protected all concerned in the publication of the book from later charges of heresy.
