The "Sancti Epiphanii ad Physiologum"
project is a work in progress. Not all pages are
complete and much research is yet to be done. The
project findings are being published online in this
incomplete form to facilitate further research and
to make the information immediately available to
a wider public.
The Table of Contents
provides an outline of what the completed project
will look like. While all pages listed in the Contents
exist, some of them are currently empty, serving
only as placeholders and as a glimpse of things
to come.
Work in progress or planned includes:
- A third facsimile option, an extensive index
with links to the facsimile images.
- Further research on the book itself, possibly
including examination of other copies and editions,
and the study of records held at the Plantin-Moretus
Museum in Antwerp.
- Research on the manuscript Ponce de Leon may
have copied the text from.
- Tracing of the provenance of the book, as far
as possible.
- Completion of the transcript of all Latin text.
The transcript will be marked up using standard
XML encoding, allowing for imbedded references
and other supplementary material.
- The translation of at least parts of the Latin
text into English. The translation will also be
marked up in XML
