Hints to the Frosh
(written by students who have learned by sad experience.)
1. Carry a copy of the Handbook all the time. Read it right through; you need the information it contains.
2. See that you know the regulations of the College, as set forth in the Calendar.
3. Attend all Alma Mater meetings.
4. Learn the College songs and yells.
5. Watch the notice board.
6. Take an interest in at least one extracurricular activity. College will then mean that much more to you.
7. Mention any new ideas you have concerning social functions, sports or clubs to the Council. It needs your interest and co-operation.
8. Do your work every day. Keeping up is easier than catching up.
9. Talk over your problems with your professors.
10. If you are having trouble with a subject, try reading up the subject matter of the following day's lecture.
11. Start to work, real work, the first day, and keep it up regularly until the end of the term. Every day learn the work given in lectures. Keep your lecture notes tidy and up to date. College professors seldom set actual homework, but they expect you to know the information given in the lectures and to look up any points you do not understand. Keep a tidy, well-organized reference book, and learn your notes. College work is not exceptionally difficult, but there is a great deal of it. It is your own responsibility to see that you master that work. Remember the College motto "Tuum est." ("It is up to you.")
