The photographs on this web site were taken to supplement the July, 1975 edition of the University of Victoria's Malahat Review, Number Thirty-Five. The edition was subtitled "A Gathering in Celebration of the Eightieth Birthday of Robert Graves."

Not all the photographs displayed on this site were included in the original Malahat Review edition.

They were taken by several different photographers and in several different countries over a year long period between 1974 and 1975. Each photo's metadata-- when available--is included along with the photo reproduction on the Catalogue of Photos page. Most were taken at Graves' residence in Deya, and during a trip across Eastern and Central Europe, in Romania (Bukovina), Poland and Hungary.

Not all the photographs contain proper identification. Where possible, credit to the photographer has been given. However, the Malahat Review credits four photographers specifically: Laszlo Kery; Jeffrey Craig (Claddagh Records); Douglas Glass and Lloyd Borguss.

No credit is given for the image GRA-101-023 (left), which is a photo of a photo. The original photo is dated 1877 and depicts Leopold Von Ranke, the historian, variously described as Graves' maternal grandfather or great uncle.
